| RIAJ announced on 19 April that it established and publicized the "Guidelines on labeling
of Copy Control CDs(Interim Version)" on 22 March.
This operation standard (the same criterion as RIS, Recording Industry Standard) was compiled the inherent
items and method for labeling on Copy Control CD (CCCD), from the consumer protection view-point, to be of
reference to each RIAJ's member company for its releasing of CCCD.
This operation standard includes the concrete information examples focusing on each copy control technology
(CCT) combined with the rules for labeling method of recommended logo and common sticker, and information of
copy control and replay-limited-devices and detailed description, etc.
Specifically, the standard was compiled, focusing on easy noticeability for consumers at the retail shops
at their purchasing, to inform that "the CD is CCCD" and the information to make clear the devices
which are the subject to copy control and/or replay limitation, etc.
RIAJ keens to take the following steps to obtain consumers' understanding when record companies release CCCDs
that
1) to have proper labeling taking this standard into account,
2) to provide sufficient information to consumers when and after their purchase, and
3) to introduce CCCDs smoothly in the marketplace.
